Rachel Weisz in “The Favorite”
The Yorgos Lanthimos helmed highlight will open the 2018 New York Film Festival.
The film featuring Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Olivia Colman marks Lanthimos’ arrival to the celebration after his 2015 screening of Lobster.
The verifiable show will commence the 56th release of NYFF, which will be held at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on Friday, September 28.

Weisz stars as Sarah Churchill, the Duchess of Marlborough and Stone as hireling Abigail Hill, in the genuinely propelled film. A public statement depicted the film as a “reconsidering of the ensemble epic, in which the visual pomp of court life in eighteenth century England winds up not only a richly designated scenery but rather an unexpectedly uplifted antithesis to the primal clash unreeling in secret.”
